Crinkles the Dog needs a home

For more information contact my foster mom, Sarah, at [email protected]

Hey there! Nice to see you!  Let me introduce myself.  Let's start with my name, Crinkles.  It was given to be because I was born with a bent, aka "crinkled," tail.  Other than the cosmetics though, it doesn't bother me one bit. I am about 9 years old but am not sure of my exact birth date.  I was living with a nice, older lady for all of my life, but recently she just couldn't take care of me anymore so that's how I ended up being a part of Little Paws Rescue.

I have been in my foster home for almost one month now and I love it.  I fit right in as soon as I got here.  There are two other dachshunds, a chiweenie, a chihuahua/minipin, and a much bigger pit bull mix, and we all get along just fine.  There is also a cat who pretty much leaves us dogs alone, and I usually leave him alone, too.  Along with all of those animals there are human children here, too, and I love them and they love me!  One of the humans is just over 1 year old so he is always down on the floor with us dogs.  He likes to play and pet me and I let him as long as he is gentle, which his mommy and daddy make sure he is.

At night my foster parents let me sleep in the big bed with them and the other small doggies.  I do have one confession to make, though.  My former mommy let me eat as much as I wanted and because she was older, we didn't get much exercise, so I am what is called "obese."  Because of this, and because I am a dachshund prone to back issues anyway, I cannot get up onto the big bed or couch by myself, though I LOVE to sit on my human's lap and to cuddle at bed time.

We are working on my weight loss by feeding me just two evenly measured meals of dry dog food a day, and just one or two dog treats a day. I will need a furever family that is willing to continue working with me on this. I also really love to drink water, but as long as you let me out often I will only do my potty business outside. I am leash trained, but also like roaming around a fenced yard.  Because of my weight and potential back issues, it is probably best if I am not in a house or apartment where I have to use a lot of stairs.

So far I have been friendly with everyone I have met, young and old, human and animal, male or female.  I also have been a good patient at the vet.  The manager even said I may be the cutest dachshund she has ever seen!  Would you please consider making me a part of your furever family?  I may be a senior, but I still have lots of life to live and love to give!
